Mismatch

for Susan

So many now are married to the view
of life that claims that they are only matter,
that gives a bitter pill for them to chew
of pointlessness that’s making people sadder,
and though the view is like a spouse that beats,
so many feel they have no other choice
but spend their lives with it although it cheats
them of the view that would make them rejoice.
But you can shed the load that you have carried,
of thinking that you have to stay with it,
the view to which, like others, you were married,
and find, for your soul’s sake, a better fit.
Reluctantly you married, as if forced.
I hope and pray that you will get divorced.
