You looked at others through a lens of need
that’s tinted with what they could do for you–
the thirst that they could quench or hunger feed,
and that perspective colored all your view.
You’ve looked at others not as who they are
but who they are to you and what you seek
and let your personal agendas mar
your vision, limiting what you would see.
But now you want to see all with Love’s eyes,
instead of through your filter, awfully tinted,
distorting truth until it’s purely lies,
or it is only vaguely, palely hinted.
You pray your vision will grow more refined:
unless you see with Love’s eyes, you are blind.
