You want to live as if a God exists,
although you can’t be certain that He does,
instead of being someone who insists
their God is all there is or ever was
yet lives as if they don’t believe the fact
and gives their life to serving other masters.
You feel it’s more important how we act
since certainty has often caused disasters.
But just as plants can’t simply choose to grow
without the light and warmth that’s from the sun,
a human being can’t choose to live as though
there is a God unless indeed there’s one:
You live like God exists not since He might
but like a plant that grows because there’s light.
