You multiplied some loaves and fishes, so
multitudes were fed from a just a few,
yet there has been another kind of dough
that I have wished were multiplied by You:
not loaves but loves I wish were multiplied,
for I have loved so few among Earth’s many,
and I wish I were full of love inside
for countless souls for which I’ve not had any.
I pray You’ll work this miracle in me
of multiplying loves like loaves of bread
and fishes You conjured without the sea,
so that a multitude of souls is fed.
O, Christ, fulfill one of my deepest wishes
and multiply my loves like loaves and fishes.
