Foliage Jewels

The sun that’s blocked by leaves breaks through as gems
that shift and sparkle as you move below
the canopy with jewels amidst its stems,
reminding you of something good to know:
you thought that all that blocked the light was bad
and wished your soul were solely in the light
yet saw that this desire that you had
ignored that some obstructions bring delight:
the leaves that block the sun create a treasure,
a flickering of jewels that dazzles you,
that gives you as you walk below a pleasure,
and in your soul there’s something like this too:
you want a steady light and want it quicker
but see there’s beauty in the sunshine’s flicker.
