It’s easy to believe you are a god
when you are healthy, lovely, young and strong,
yet then you find that this belief is flawed
or rather that it’s absolutely wrong.
You find that you are helpless in the end
and not omnipotent, some deity.
I found this in a wound I couldn’t mend
that made my poorness evident to me.
Before you feel your helplessness, you may
turn to the God that’s real, that isn’t you.
Before what is, I hope, that far off day,
beyond yourself, you’ll seek the God that’s true.
At times, we all have thought we are divine,
but we’re like grapes that just grow on the vine.
