Before photography, some memories
evaporated like the morning dew,
but now we recollect with utter ease
the way you looked back when your life was new.
But things that cameras can never capture
are in our photographic minds retained,
from feelings of despair to those of rapture
which we hoped would forever be sustained.
An image shows the surface, but we’re more,
our depths unseen, beyond the frame, the shore.
