Your shoes may not be fancy or elite,
nonetheless the world is at your feet.
As friends peruse the Western Hemisphere,
a smile dawns beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
The gap between a pair appears gigantic
although that’s just a miniature Atlantic.
We’ve turned our backs on Earth. It’s serious.
Species are facing extinction. Will it face us?
To lift the world alone may not seem prudent,
yet it could be cheerfully carried by a student.
The world upon her back, a student smiles,
with upheld arm spanning an ocean’s miles.
Earth weighs about six sextillion tons,
but lugging a light facsimile looks fun.
In a cosmic ocean, Earth is a pearl
that is infinite in value – like a girl.
